The page is about the MEssage Forum and some of it's aims and guides.

I finally realised that what had happened to me
in my childhood and teen years was abuse.
Well, I didn't realise - I was TOLD, flat out.

It was a revelation that what had happened to me had a name.
It was more amazing to realise that other people had been abused too.

Being a bit of a geek, I immediately went online
to try to find some Christian women out there who had similar backgrounds.

To my amazement there weren't any easily available groups
or areas in which Christian Women could get together.

I tried connecting with ladies in ordinary Christian groups
and sexual abuse support groups,
but they didn't understand.

The Christian ladies tended to have an attitude of "let go and let God"
(I heard that so many times I HATE the saying now),
the other support groups didn't understand that I wanted to love God,
just as much as they did, even though I felt He had failed me.

Eventually, I started my own group.

One of the most important guidelines in the group
was to remember that although we really want to love God,
some of us are really struggling with Christianity.
Not the existence of God,
but having a real God-relationship in our lives.

It is very hard to understand God allowing our abuse
and accepting that He loves us
(when perhaps we don't respect ourselves),
and moving on from there to having the close relationship with Him we all long for.

The other thing I asked newcomers to group to do was to please love each other
 - because if we, with our insider understanding,
can't offer love to others in our position,
no matter how prickly,
or how vacillating,
or how determined each individual may be,
we are not going to have much hope of it in the big wide uncaring world.

The result of my putting together the group on Yahoo in early 2000
has been that some women have got together
and supported each other through some hard times in their lives.
They have been there to listen,
to say "me too",
to offer prayer
and mostly to just love and accept each other.
It is a small group so we know each other fairly well, in an email way.
I think that it achieved what I was hoping to achieve.

We now have a new area on the Jesus Rules Us site, an online Message Forum, just for us!
It is private, no one can see what we write unless they are given access by the moderator (me).
