 The Religion of Ironing Hating

What is the Religion of Ironing Hating?

Well, it is fairly self-explanatory - it is making a religion of hating ironing.

When I was down on my luck, two small children to look after,
renting a house, no job etc, I took in ironing.

I would iron for several hours a day
- hot weather (42C),
cold weather,
operations on feet,
bad back notwithstanding.
I remember standing there at midnight on occasion
to get the ironing done to be picked up the next day.

It became something I loathed.

In the words of someone I admire immensely (my fiance),

"What is this obsession people have with flat clothes anyway?"

I do not understand either.
I mean, it's not like we are flat.
Particularly some of us ladies.

However, I continued with the ironing until I no longer needed the income
and then became so anti-ironing that some of my clothes drew comment
even at the University I was attending.

Someone said to me that I was so against ironing
I should start a new religion.

That sounded good to me as from my point of view,
a religion is formed by doing something religiously.

I hate ironing,
and I was sure I could become fanatical about it

. . . if I wasn't already.

So, here is the Religion of Ironing Hating.
